DRAFT June 7, 2013: The USAID Biodiversity Policy lays out a bold and innovative way forward for the Agency and international community that recognizes not only intrinsic values of biodiversity, but also: 1) its role in the provision of ecosystem goods and services as inputs for sustainable development; 2)the generation of development co-benefits of conservation programs, such as enhancing sustainable livelihoods, and promoting gender equality; and, 3) improved development outcomes, in sectors such as food security and economic growth, from integrating biodiversity.
