The mission activities were to involve development of a biomass and carbon monitoring protocol that would allow pastoralists in Oromiya, Ethiopia to monitor range conditions and determine the effects of range management on carbon sequestration. This monitoring is an effort to build on an previous work conducted by the Tropical Forestry Group, which conducted carbon inventories in Oromiya in 2009. The second objective was to provide training to local NGO and research staff in the Oromiya region so that they could utilize the protocols.
