Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Communities Responding to the HIV/AIDS Epidemic (CORE) was established in 2003, to provide financial and technical support to large non-governmental organizations and faith-based organizations, and to small community-based as well as faith-based organizations. It has funded projects in Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, and Malawi. Led by CARE, the consortium included ICRW, the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs, and the World Council of Churches.
